JK Hobson

JK Hobson got his start in entertainment touring with Metal band Crisis in the late 90’s and 2000’s, got tired of lifting heavy gear, and performed his first standup set in Los Angeles in 2013. Since moving to Vietnam this Fulbright scholar and co-founder of comedy collective Saigon Funny People has performed in Los Angeles, New York City, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam and was a finalist in the 2018 Vietnam Comedy Competition. Political, yet somehow simultaneously irreverent, he’s hosted and opened for International standup comedians Dwayne Perkins, Ahmed Ahmed, Ollie Horn, Dana Alexander, Stephen Carlin, Ron Josol, Lars Callieou, Garrett Millerick, Corey Marx, and Mark Lucas, and has guest-hosted VTV4’s Vietnam Discovery. JK was was the cover story for NYC-based art/punk magazine Carpazine and was profiled as an expat of note in VN Express and The Saigon Times! He was also the very first guest on the podcast “Seven Million Bikes: A Saigon Podcast and He has also been a contributing writer for Saigoneer, City Pass Guide and Tuoi Tre, and works as a freelance actor!
